If you read my post last week about eye makeup remover, you know that I'm a huge fan of waterproof eyeliners and honestly don't even know why they make anything thats not. It's definitely a pain to take off, but isn't that the point?
I've included my favorite waterproof pencil, liquid, and gel eyeliners so no one is left out! Did I miss any? What are your favorites? Leave it in the comments below!
*Thank you to one of my favorite makeup artists, Erica Beukelman, for the recommending the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner. Check out her website for some great tutorials!

THANK YOU (from a lil' southern lady who recently started wearing eyeliner!). I was in a panic state with the summer months approaching, and now I'm safe. YOU ROCK! xo permalink
Have you tried the NARS - Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in the Via Veneto? It is the best eyeliner! Goes on so smooth and you just turn the bottom, so no sharpener is ever needed! It is the best :)Also, it lasts me 3 months and I use it everyday! I'm always amazed at how long it lasts. I also like the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye pencil, but it goes so fast and I always have to sharpen it, but great color selection. permalink
I love the thought of it saying on all day but I would go crazy pulling at my eyes at night, trying to get it all off!!

Bare Escentuals makes a waterproof eyeliner that is awesome! It's soft and goes on so easily!! Stays on all day. LOVE IT!! permalink
I literally cannot live without Revlon Colorstay Liner. It stays put, doesn't smudge, & holds up better than any other liner. I try & switch & try new things sometimes, but there is just no way I could live without this! permalink
Hey Emily,
As a fan and a make-up lover alike, I am so excited to see your blog unfold. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I recently discovered the book "No More Dirty Looks" by Siobhan O'Conner and Alexandra Spunt. It uncovers many of the myths and risks within the make-up industry; I warn you, it's a little scary. Check it out! I look forward to some of the 'clean' make-ups you discover in the future. Warm thoughts! : )

I love makeup....and I agree with you Emily, Bobby Brown's gel eyeliner is the best (although if you are looking for a less expensive (really close to the real deal) dupe, check out elf's gel eyeliner. But my other favorites are Urban Decays eyeliner and then Revlon's black eyeliner. Those are the 3 best for me! permalink
Omg!! Bobbi browns the best!!! permalink
Love the recommendations! I am posting about gel eyeliner tomorrow - so I might try these out! You can see my first eyerliner post here!

What color do you wear everyday? and do you change switch to go out? permalink
I love Urban Decay 24/7. permalink
Hi Emily,
What brush do you recommend for the Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner? permalink
I change up all of my makeup, but never my liner- Revlon Colorstay liquid eye pen. I can't do waterproof, I hate taking it off! This liner stays on all day and even looks pretty much the same even if I fall asleep with it on! It's easy to apply and remove :)! permalink
Mally Roncal has some great "bullet-proof" eyeliners as she likes to call them. You have about 30 seconds to work with the product before they set and become "bullet-proof." Love these products. permalink
Would rather walk the line for you, than the plank for anyone else.

How do we know which comments are actually written by you and not someone just typing on Emily Maynard? Is there anyway to be sure? permalink
I watch A LOT of youtube and I am always researching different makeup products so that I can avoid returning/giving away/throwing away items I don't like. I haven't tried too many eyeliners but there are certain ones that are pretty much universally raved about. The Maybelline gel eyeliner is supposed to be a dupe for both Bobbi Brown and Mac (Which are both very popular). Makeup artists rave about them as well. Urban Decay's 24/7 eyeliner is a popular pencil liner, but good dupes for them are the NYX glide on liners and the Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl liner. I have 4 colors of the Rimmel one and they are awesome! It glides easily, is easy to smudge and yet once they set, it will stay all day. It's also waterproof and smudge proof! Great for the waterline too. I think eyeliner is one of those things to save money on, because there are great drugstore options that do pretty much the same thing. Hope this helps anyone looking for a new eyeliner! permalink
Hi Emily, thanks for the suggestions! Have you tried the MAC Fluidline gel liner? It is fantastic and with the right brush it creates the perfect winged liner. permalink
Just wanted to tell you that I love your blog!! Keep up the great work... You're onto something GREAT. xoxo Shauna permalink
The Bobbi Brown long wear gel eyeliner is what I swear by (with the fine liner brush of course). BEST EYELINER EVER!

Non-waterproof makeup comes off with saline solution. No lie. Just saturate a cotton ball with saline solution, hold to the offending area for a couple of seconds, and then rub. Do this before you wash your face, then go over it with your regular face cleanser, and it will remove almost all traces. Super cheap, completely healthy for your skin and eyes, and if you are a contact wearer, already there in the cabinet. You can even use it on a q-tip to clean your waterline, if you pull your eyelid away from your eye. Also, if I've accidentally gotten mascara on my eyelids/cheeks and I don't want to take off all of the makeup I just put on, I'll dip a q-tip in my eye cream and then glide it over the mascara mark. Comes off instantly, doesn't leave residue, doesn't mess up anything around it. And then you can go over it and blend. permalink
Looking forward to watching True Romance and having my last first kiss with the most beautiful woman in the world. permalink
I love Yves Saint Laurent's cream eye liners. They don't dry out like some other liners that are gel. They have beautiful colors and are smudgeproof, waterproof and 24h wear. For liquid liners I like the Faux Cils Shocking liner also by YSL. It is water resistant and 12h wear. I saw it on the Today show awhile back and now I am hooked! I remove it all with Lancome's Bifacil! permalink
Stila Stay All day liquid liner is my holy grail! I have a YouTube beauty channel and I recommend it to everyone to use bc I haven't found anything better!! permalink
I wear Stila almost EVERY day... I purchase mine at Sephora. Typically I am a total bargain shopper and buy the majority of my cosmetics at places like CVS, however, the $20 spent on the Stila all day liquid eyeliner is BEYOND worth it. I can go 4-6 months with ONE, yes ONE! Stila liquid eyeliner... they just last forever, glad to see that Emily has discovered my favorite liner as well, it really is the best bang for your buck! permalink
Have you tried Laura Mercier creme eye liner? It's like Bobbi's gel liner but creamer and never dries out, it's amazing!
Also Laura's graphic liquid eye liner.
The ultimate liquid eye liner! Graphic Liquid Eye Liner is glossy, long wearing and waterproof! permalink
My current favorite is Superslick Liquid Eye Liner by Mac. It is water resistant and comes in lots of great colors. Have you tried it? Also, do you tend to wear just black eyeliner?
Thanks Emily!! permalink
I have been wearing Stila Stay All Day liquid eyeliner for a long time now. It's absolutely the best liner for me. Since I'm prone to dark undereye circles, I only use it on my top lash line and create a tame version of a cat eye. The liner lasts all day, even without eye primer or a finishing product. $20 and it lasts you a while. Can't beat that :) permalink

Hi Emily! I have a great eye make up remover that will remove ANYTHING without heavy rubbing. It is Makeup Fo Ever's SENS'EYES in a 3.38 oz blue color bottle with a black pump. I get them at Sephora. It isn't the cheapest but I only use a little. Get a Kleenex tissue ready. Then gentle circular motion of a little product on closed eye lid. Then work it through the waterproof mascara. It takes like a few seconds and you can feel stuff just melting. Ten use the tissue to wipe off all the now blacken lotion. There is nothing that even comes close to this product when it comes to removing long lasting eye wear. I swear by it! permalink
I already use those exact Stila and Bobbi Brown eyeliners...they're the only ones I've used for years! The Bobbi Brown gel pot lasts forever. Looking forward to trying the Maybelline pencil! permalink
Kat Von D Tatoo Liner in Trooper (ink black) is a great one. Maya (a deep brown) is nice for everyday. permalink
I use the Bobbie Brown liner.. and won't even try another after I tried this one. It took me a few attempts and getting used to the brush for application..but now I feel like a pro! I just wished it lasted longer.. it tends to go dry before I can use it all. Little secret.. it works amazing for a quick out the door touch up at root line to hide any gray hairs you have peeking through.. sshhhh.. don't tell everyone! permalink
Victoria's Secret Graphic Eye Liner is even better than Stila's in my opinion!!! So easy to apply, stays all day, and you can make a thin or thick line. Love love love it permalink
Love this article! These aren't too pricey options and they seem to work great on you! Thanks for the make up advice! :) permalink
If you love the Stila eyeliner, you HAVE to try the Kat Von D tattoo liner in Trooper (black). It's the same type of product, but I swear by this and don't know how I survived without it. You can find it at any Sephora. Trust me on this one! permalink
Emily, thank you for your posts. You always look beautiful so it's nice to know how we can replicate your looks! I too have tried the Stila liquid liner and it is the only liquid liner I've liked. It's wonderful and applies like a charm! xoxo permalink
